Looking Ahead: The Behavioral Health Unit – Opening 2027

To further address the growing mental health needs in our region, Sheridan Memorial Hospital is developing a new Behavioral Health Unit, scheduled to open in 2027. This transformative facility will include:

  • Outpatient psychiatric care: Integrated outpatient behavioral health services
  • Crisis stabilization: A dedicated area for short-term stabilization and support.
  • Inpatient psychiatric care: Eight adult beds and two pediatric beds to provide comprehensive care.

This unit will provide integrated, trauma-informed healthcare focused on keeping individuals in the community as they receive psychiatric care.

Supported by generous funding from the Helmsley Charitable Trust ($2.5 million), Wyoming’s State Loan and Investment Board ($5.9 million), and a $2.5 million commitment from Sheridan County, this project reflects our dedication to reducing recidivism, improving safety, and addressing Wyoming’s high suicide rate—double the national average.
