February 26, 2016 – The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary presented donations totaling $50,000 to the hospital at its annual meeting today at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. With today’s gift, the Auxiliary surpassed the half million mark with nearly $550,000 in total giving since 1991.
Auxiliary President Wanda Hanebrink presented two checks to the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation – represented by Board Members Mary Ludemann and Rita Rohrbaugh and Director Ada Kirven. The auxiliary board voted to provide the funds to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) expansion project which is currently underway. The Hospital’s ICU Manager Robin Horsley and Chief Nursing Officer Charlotte Mather were also on hand to accept the gift. Five thousand was generated through the Auxiliary’s annual Christmas Trees of Love Project, and the remaining $45,000 came from Kozy Korner Gift Shop proceeds.
According to Hanebrink, the Auxiliary will be recognized with a plaque in the new ICU family waiting area. This gift is right in line with the Auxiliary’s Constitution which states ‘The purpose of this organization (the auxiliary) is to promote and to advance the welfare of Memorial Hospital. The comfort and welfare of the patient is foremost in mind.’
Kirven thanked the group of over 50 volunteers for their gifts. “Each year the Auxiliary selects a project to make the hospital better for our patients and their families. We are proud to receive this funding for the ICU and critical care—it will make a difference,” according to Kirven.
Auxiliary officers were installed including: Maurita Meehan-President, Karen Steir-President Elect, Jill Mitchell-Vice President/Membership, Jan Felker-Secretary, Ethelyn St. John-Treasurer, Vicki Washut-Historian and Wanda Hanebrink-Past President.
The following awards were given to volunteers for accumulated hours of service: 200 hours or more: Dee Carnes, Dorothea Dorr, Judy Hayworth, Felicia Kirven 500 hours or more: Janet Bishop, Diane Hegy, Nancy Huckfeldt, Rosemary Rieder 1,000 hours or more: Joan Kalasinsky, Ann Kilpatrick, Sandy Pilch, Ethelyn St. John 3,000 hours or more: Wanda Hanebrink
