The Foundation

Established in 1976, The Foundation has created a lasting legacy, as well as strategic goals for the future. Through our mission, we support excellent healthcare right here at home. Across 25 specialties, more than 100 physicians and advanced care practitioners, and nearly 900 total staff are ready to serve you. Your support continues to financially assist Sheridan Memorial Hospital with strategic and vital healthcare projects today and into the future.

Meeting Patient Needs

In 2023, Sheridan Memorial Hospital (SMH) gathered input from the community through processes such as the Community Health Needs Assessment, other research, and day-to-day interactions because we needed to hear from you – the community, our patients. That data was utilized alongside feedback from SMH staff, stakeholders, and leadership to develop SMH’s 2023 – 2026 Strategic Plan. Among the identified areas, concerns for mental health continued to be a top priority in our community, confirming the need and reaffirming our commitment to developing a behavioral health system of care and clinical infrastructure.

In line with its commitment to excellent patient-centered care close to home, SMH will build a system of care in Sheridan County to ensure those struggling with mental health have “a place to go,” as identified as a top priority through the community assessment. Expected to begin caring for patients early 2027, the SH Behavioral Health Unit will offer outpatient psychiatric care, acute crisis stabilization and inpatient psychiatric treatment to ensure members of our community can receive excellent healthcare in Sheridan.
