About Dr. Turnbough
Dr. Abigail Turnbough joins Sheridan Memorial Hospital as a Rheumatologist alongside Dr. Benjamin Widener, starting July 30, 2024. A Wyoming native, Dr. Turnbough grew up in Casper and has always had a strong connection to her home state. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming, followed by her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine in Colorado. She completed her residency in Denver, where she held leadership roles as Chief Resident and Vice Chair of the Medical Student Education Program. Dr. Turnbough completed her fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine.

Dr. Turnbough’s journey back to Wyoming has been fueled by her passion for providing specialized care to the hardworking communities of her home state. Inspired by a patient during her early volunteering days, she has committed herself to the field of Rheumatology, treating conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, and other autoimmune diseases.

Known for her direct and compassionate approach, Dr. Turnbough focuses on building lasting relationships with her patients. She understands that trust and clear communication are critical in managing lifelong conditions. Her goal is to work collaboratively with her patients to find effective treatments and improve their quality of life.

Outside of her practice, Dr. Turnbough enjoys spending time in the Bighorn Mountains with her husband, a native of Broadus, Montana, and engaging in hobbies such as reading, painting, and hunting.
